I found out that you don't actually get to steal the other teams Mime - which I thought would be pretty cool actually.

Here is her explanation:
Mime is like mimic. It lets you use the action the previous character used. E.G. Cloud summons Shiva -> Tifa uses mime -> Tifa summons Shiva (even though she doesn't have "Shiva" Materia). ^^
